Our carefully prepared wine list features the different countries of the world and the individual grape varieties that are true expressions of the wide range of flavours now available. All are fantastic with food and are made by some of the worlds finest winemakers.
 
Champagne

Mailly Grand Cru - ‘Blanc de Noirs’ NV £ 33.50
This is rich, powerful Champagne is from an exceptional 'mono cru' producer using 100% Pinot Noir grapes only from the Grand Cru village of Mailly, just south of Reims. It has a distinctive pinky yellow colour and a complex toast and biscuity nose with mineral and fresh bread flavours on the palate. This is serious Champagne to enjoy as an aperitif or to accompany sole and turbot or white meats.

Lenoble Grand Cru - ‘Blanc de Blancs’ £ 34.50
A generous, well-structured Champagne made by the family owned house of Lenoble in Damery, near Epernay. This is an area that produces the best Chardonnay grapes of the region. A very special Champagne produced entirely from the Grand Cru Chardonnay vineyard of 'Chouilly' in the Côte des Blancs. The exceptional quality of the grapes combined with 20% mature reserve wines gives elegant, rounded Champagne with a soft, ripe palate.

Rosé

Lenoble - Brut Rosé 2002 £ 36.50
A R Lenoble is a small family owned house run by Anne Malassagne. Quality is impressive and this vintage rosé is made using ‘Grand Cru’ Chardonnay selected from their special vineyard in the village of Chouilly and ‘Premier Cru’ Pinot Noir from Bisseuil.Delicate salmon-pink colour with fine bubbles, a light sparkling foam and a fruity nose with scents of red fruits. Elegant, rounded, light, well balanced on the palate.

Billecart Salmon - Rosé NV £ 56.00
Pale salmon pink in colour, with a shade of gold. The nose shows hints of fresh pear and soft red fruits, followed by delicate fruit on the palate. Elegant with great finesse

White Wines

New Zealand- Sauvignon Blanc - Wairau River (Marlborough) 2007/08 £ 23.50
A quintessential aromatic grassy, gooseberry Marlborough wine. They established the region’s vineyards in the late ‘70s, planted on silty, stony Wairau riverbed soils. This is an acclaimed Sauvignon, winning Gold at the Air NZ awards. A classic expression of the dry, gooseberry, grass and passion fruit style that has made Marlborough world-famous.

France Sancerre - Domaine Crochet (Loire Valley) 2007 £ 24.50
The dynamic young Francois Crochet has made wines in New Zealand and Bordeaux and uses his broad experience wisely. Made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown on the limestone slopes of Bué, he creates a classic Sancerre with a lovely grassy aroma and well-balanced ripe flavours. Whilst rich with citrus flavours there is excellent balance and weighty fruit on the palate.

France Chablis - Domaine Gautheron (Chablis) 2005/06 £ 24.50
A very traditional Chablis, it has fresh, floral aromas, appely fruit and complex, rich mineral character. Fermentation and maturation is very traditional avoiding wood to preserve the fresh steely flavours and subtle influence of the chalky vineyard soils.

South Africa - Sauvignon Blanc - Rietvallei (Rbertson) 2008 £ 16.95
Hand picked to ensure elegant, lively and finely balanced wine with crisp, flinty mineral notes. It is vibrant, with a typical grassy aroma backed by ripe green figs and grapefruit on the palate.

France - Pouilly Fumé Domaine Landrat et Guyollot (Loire) 2006/07 £ 25.00
Well established family domaine at Les Berthiers in Pouilly sur Loire. Now in the hands of the daughter Sophie whose attention to detail and desire to increase quality is very evident having made 3 superb vintages on the trot. Elegant and well balanced with a light smoky aroma but wonderfully flavoured and delicious length on the finish.

New Zealand - Pinot Gris - Wairau River Wines, Marlborough 2007/08 £ 19.50
Succulent ripe pear on the nose, with melon, apple and white peach flavours. A lingering finish complements the exotic spice and fleshy character, with well-integrated acidity.

Italy - Pinot Grigio - Tommasi, Veneto 2007/08 £ 17.50
The vineyard is planted on slopes favourably exposed to the south. The Pinot Grigio vines are cooled by the gentle breeze of the valley to produce grapes considered to be of exceptionally high quality, contributing to a mouth filling wine, well balanced with peachy fruit and a gentle lingering acidity.

Australia - Semillon Sauvignon - Hamelin Bay, Margaret River 2007 £ 19.95
This region is blessed with a fantastic climate and enjoys the sea influences from the Indian Ocean near by. Aromas of citrus, guava and kiwi fruit, with a tantalising natural acid zing, minerality and long finish on the palate.

Red Wines

South Africa - Merlot - Laibach (Stellenbosch) 2007 £ 19.50
Situated on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain, one of the prime red wine growing areas of the Cape, Laibach Vineyards produce a Merlot of the highest standards. Winemaker, Francois van Zyl, uses his experience of winemaking in Bordeaux to achieve a richly flavoured raisiny wine with plum and mineral complexity and the benefit of 14 months maturation in oak.

Spain - Rioja Crianza - Marqués de Cáceres (Rioja) 2005 £ 19.95
Made from a traditional blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes, this Rioja has been selected from old vineyards and matured for 2 years in oak barrel and bottle. Spice, cherry, vanilla and leather aromas dominate the bouquet. On the taste it is intense and well structured with soft velvety tannins giving a pleasant backbone.

France - Château la Rosé Saint-Georges St-Georges St Emilion 2005 £ 26.50
A tiny estate located on clay limestone soil to the north of St Emilion. The wonderful 2003 vintage provided only 700 cases of rich, rounded Merlot fruit that shows perfumed aromas and a velvety ripe character on the palate supported by soft harmonious tannins and a seductive lingering finish.

New Zealand - Merlot Cabernet Malbec Reserve Esk Valley 2006 £ 22.50
A premium grape growing region which has been producing quality wine for over 100 years. Aged in oak barrels for 12 months and has ripe plum and berry fruit, with a minty complexity. A stunning red!

Australia - Rampant Red Shiraz Cabernet Merlot, Hamelin Bay 2005/06 £ 20.50
Brilliant clarity with medium intensity with a cherry red centre and pink purple hue. Aromas of dusty mint and earth harmoniously meld with cherry, plum and berry fruits to afford a complex bouquet. The palate is round and of medium weight, with fine tannins.

New Zealand - Pinot Noir Astrolabe Vineyards - Marlborough 2007 - £ 25.50
Astrolabe is a limited premium wine released by Simon Waghorn, the renowned wine maker of Whitehaven Vinyards.
This hand-picked Pinot is from the cool Renwick district of Marlborough on new Zealand's South Island. it is perfumed with rose petal aromas and a hint of smokey oak.

Spain - Rioja Reserva - Bodegas Azabache 2002 £ 26.00
This excellent Rioja is well balanced with a soft seductive character typical of the Tempranillo and Graciano grapes. It is made in the traditional style having been aged for three years in oak and bottle before release and exhibits intense fruits with hints of vanilla and a soft rounded palate

France - Bourgogne Pinot Noir - Domaine du Prieuré (Burgundy) 2004/06 £ 19.50
This Bourgogne Pinot Noir is from a tiny 2ha plot just outside the Savigny appellation. It extols the virtues of pure Pinot fruit with captivating ripe perfume and soft silky balance.

Chile - Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve - La Playa, Colchagua Valley 2006/07 £ 17.95
Intense garnet red colour with violet hues. The integrated, elegant aromas include notes of sour cherry, ripe red fruits, lactic characters, vanilla, coffee, dark chocolate, and cedar. On the palate, the wine is powerful and full bodied, with round, ripe tannins. The initial aromas carry through a long finish.

Rosé Wines

Spain - Rioja Rosé - Marqués de Cáceres (Rioja) 2007/08 £ 16.50
Using a traditional blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes, this rosé Rioja has been made by bleeding the delicate salmon pink must off the grape skins during the fermentation. Unlike red Rioja, the rosado is not aged in oak and retains its natural vibrant freshness. This dry style is very popular in Spain for its redcurrant and strawberry character and fresh balanced palate.

France - Sancerre Rosé - Domaine Crochet (Loire Valley) 2007 £ 24.95
Made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown on the limestone slopes of Bué, a classic Sancerre with a lovely grassy aroma and well balanced ripe flavours. Whilst exhuberant with citrus flavours there is excellent balance and full sweet fruit on the palate.

Dessert Wine

France - Saussignac ‘Cuvée Flavie’ 2005/06 (50cl) £ 18.50
Château des Eyssards (Bergerac)
The passionate and innovative young winemaker Pascal Cuisset owns this beautiful Dordogne estate. His rich and concentrated dessert wine from the neighbouring village of Saussignac is made from Semillon and Chenin grapes affected by noble rot and aged in barrel for 20 months. Like a classic Sauternes, this elegant dessert wine has a concentrated, luscious character, intense rounded sweetness yet it is balanced by good acidity on the finish.

South Africa - Red Muscadel - Rietvallei Estate (Robertson) 2007 (75cl) £ 16.00
The Muscadel vines are up to 91 years old, a Red Muscadel vineyard, planted in 1908, to this day produces superb wine. The bouquet is enticing with a perfumed Muscat flavour, which follows on the palate with complex raisiny sweetness and rose petal fragrance. The acidity complements the wine and makes it easy to enjoy. A traditional fireside companion in winter, it is best enjoyed chilled with fine chocolate dessert or blue cheeses.

Chile - Late Harvest Sauvignon - La Playa, Colchagua Valley 2006/07 £ 14.95
Medium intensity bright yellow colour. Aromas of ripe critics, melon, honey, quince, nutmeg and butterscotch. Sweet in mouth, yet well balanced with lingering fresh acidity
